My name
is Sandy. I was born 55 years ago in Ottumwa, Iowa. I came
from a typical dysfunctional family. I married Bill in 1973.
We have a son, Chris, who is 27 yrs old. He is a City Inspector
for the city of Frisco, TX. He is married to a wonderful Christian
lady, Vicky, whom we love as a daughter. They have given us
three precious granddaughters: Jordyn (9 years old), Jerica
(5 years old), and Jadynn (1year old). They are so very special!!
Being a grandma is the best thing I’ve ever done!! Bill and
I have a daughter, Cecily, who is 23 years old. She is still
in college and lives with us. She is our test and payback.
She is trying to find herself.( I do remember those days…)
My husband
is a cost estimator for Halliburton Energy Services, and I
teach kindergarten. I got my degree in ’96 the same month
I turned fifty. I had had three years of college right out
of high school, but rebelled against my parents and dropped
out. That was during the 60’s !! Lots and lots has happened
since Bill and I got married. Bill is a wonderful supportive
husband. We have lived here in Texas most of our 29 years
together. We lived in Iowa for a short while right after we
were married, and we lived in Washington state for a year
and a half.
Last
year about this time my hands and feet joints began hurting.
We had our house treated for termites in April and within
weeks every joint in my body was swollen. It was extremely
painful, and I couldn’t hardly walk, brush my teeth, could
not get in the tub at all. It was not pleasant to say the
least. I was dx with rheumatoid arthritis and put on Prednisone
and Celebrex on May 17th. The swelling gradually went down.
I was suppose to start on Methotrexate in June, but they ran
a test to be sure my liver was ok, and you know the rest.
I was dx with HCV in July.
The doc
weaned me off the Prednisone before doing the bx. I had that
done in October, and it came back minimal inflammation with
no scarring or cirrhosis. My doctor ordered tx, and I started
on November 16th. I am 1b with a viral load of 1,420,000.
I got these test results in July. I will be tested at 6 months
to see if I am responding.
The most
important thing in my life is my faith. I was born again in
1983; therefore, I know all will work out no matter what the
results on paper say. This is my journey, and it was written
before the beginning of time – beginning and ending!!
I am
