My name is Steven
Jett. I am a Viet Nam vet. Wounded twice in Viet Nam, possible
source of infection. However, I was also an iv drug user for
a few years. Now I am well into my 10th year of being clean
and sober, and most of 20 yrs, a few relapses along the way.
I am 53 yrs old
and just started treatment (Pegusus w/ Riboveren) on 11-27-2002.
I had a liver biopsy and was diagnosed stage three, had a
cat scan of my liver and was told of shrapnel (metal from
a RPG rocket) in my liver. I think that bothered me more emotionally
than physically.
So far I'm mostly
side effect free, with the exception of being a little tired
and irratable. Perhaps just a little bit of insomnia, but
not to bad. I believe part of the reason for the mildness
of the side effects is due to having worked out and having
eaten right for the most part for the last several years.
Mostly though and without hesitation I say it's a direct result
of a power greater than myself. I do the footwork and leave
the results up to God.
I am at this time
taking care of my mother. Whom is 80 yrs old and is living
with end stage renal failure. I believe this helps me from
thinking too much about myself. Ten years ago my last drink
and drug was an overdose of morphine and vodka. I was dead
on arrival at the UCD med center in Sacramento California,
died twice more in that experience and was in a coma for thirteen
days. It was interesting to me, a person who had been suicidal
most of his life (from 15 till about ten years ago) That now
I am no longer suicidal or afraid to die, but have a strong
will to live and be of service to others. In that near death
experience(a long story) I will not go into here except to
say "that death does not work as a geographic, that you
take yourself with you. So that if you are to live, one must
do so without fear and to the fullest.
The Earth school
can be quite a trial and being in a bag of water an ultimate
challenge! To gain a new attitude, a change of perception
can be the greatest reward of all. When I put the syringe
into my thigh or the Ribovarrin in my mouth. I just ask GOD
to take this medicine and turn it into light and direct it
to do what is according to your will. Like I said so far so
good.
